UB’s Business and Entrepreneur Partnerships (BEP) is seeking a Director, Physical Sciences Programs, to help change the world by fostering innovative research and economic growth in the Western New York community. You will work with diverse faculty, companies and community partners to foster collaborations that solve real-world problems. In this role you will be part of the BEP team and principally direct the Center of Excellence in Material Informatics (CMI). You will also engage with UB principal investigators, industry, community partners and other academic institutions to establish new translational research programs.
Key Responsibilities of the position include:
CMI Strategy: Responsible for driving the overall CMI strategic direction, technology and market focus areas and ensuring program objectives are achieved.
Industry Engagement: Collaborates with Technology Transfer, Business Development and faculty to facilitate industry-faculty interactions, to promote commercialization of technologies, sponsored research and industrial use of UB equipment and facilities.
Faculty Engagement & Support: Lead faculty outreach and engagement for CMI and development of new and existing translational research programs.
Leadership: Responsible for actively providing an inclusive environment through role modeling inclusive behaviors and providing equitable opportunities for all in the recruitment, interview, hiring, coaching and development, promotion and recognition of BEP employees.
Operations and Administration: Responsible for managing the budget, procurement, and reporting needs as it relates to CMI and other assigned programs.
New York State: Maintain and develop relationships with key State agencies including NYSTAR, Fuzehub and Empire State Development. Formulate and deliver advocacy information to the New York State Budget Office and Legislature as required.
