The Director Business Development will be joining a fast-paced, entrepreneurial biopharmaceutical company looking to aggressively expand its portfolio. The Director Business Development will be offered a competitive salary, bonus plus a generous benefits package including an equity stake in this rapidly growing company.
The ideal Director Business Development will be self-driver with demonstrable success closing deals in the pharmaceutical industry with a minimum of 10 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, at least 5 of which were in a transactional role, plus an advanced scientific degree (MS, MD, PhD), or an advanced business degree (MBA) with an undergraduate in a scientific discipline.
Identifies potential product and company partnerships from an extensive global BD network; develops appropriate positioning and communication strategies.
Leads multi-faceted opportunity assessments and in-depth due diligence, including data rooms to support out-licensing / divestiture opportunities
Assists with deal construction and negotiations; prepares, evaluates and presents robust financial modeling to value projects and drive business terms; assists in preparing business development documents, presentations, and briefing books.
Supports the development of corporate, product and / or therapeutic area strategies
Develops, participates and delivers actionable & impactful presentations to key prospects and stakeholders
Ability to travel up to 40% - domestic and global.
Education: advanced scientific (MS, MD, PhD) and/or, advanced business degree (MBA) combined with an undergraduate degree in a scientific discipline.
Experience: minimum of 10 years’ experience in pharma with 5+ years transactional experience in BD or investment banking. (Deal sheet).
Successful track-record in sourcing, analyzing, negotiating and closing deals within the pharma industry.
Strong quantitative,negotiation and problem-solving skills with solid understanding of financial analyses and use of data sources such as prescription and managed care data.
Firm understanding of basic science, medicine, medical practice and the drug development process.
Ability to leverage a deep network across the pharmaceutical industry to identify potential business opportunities.
Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, hands on, data-driven, and effective in working collaboratively across teams; leadership skills and must be comfortable leading cross-functional teams, and serve as an alliance manager on as needed basis; excellent interpersonal skills, pleasant demeanor and very professional in conduct.
