The new Senior Licensing Managers (there are two positions) for Dana- Farber Cancer Institute will work in separate spheres of life science clusters and continually collaborate with team members and external partners, developing relationships and mutually beneficial projects.
Each senior licensing manager will also serve as a marketing strategist, seeking areas in which collaboration with counterparts in industry will provide insight and access to further develop Dana-Farber’s portfolio efforts. While the senior licensing managers primary function is to develop mutually beneficial relationships, internally within the Dana-Farber network, and externally with businesses, startup companies, entrepreneurs and others, these managers will also serve as mentors and supervisors to a team of junior professionals in technology transfer.
In order to accomplish goals, each senior licensing manager will be assigned a cluster and work closely with a team of professionals to coordinate cross-cluster programs and projects and shape, execute and accelerate commercial opportunities.
Bachelor's degree in science and/or business administration/management, or equivalent, is required; an advanced degree, such as a Master's or PhD is preferred.
Degree in business administration and/or management is preferred.
Three to seven years of related experience required, preferably in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and/or technology industries.
Existing relationships in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and/or technology.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reports to the Market Strategist Lead in BODFI.
Manages portfolio of medical innovations with a focus on Cancer Biology, Drug Development, or Software, Data Sciences & Computational Biology and deliver high value commercial outcomes.
Manages junior licensing managers and staff.
Develops and implements strategies for efficiently ensuring compliance with license-related regulations.
Manages and develops relationships w/licensees, sponsors and potential partners.
Develops strategy to enhance commercial impact, economic returns and cost savings of key and emerging DFCI's discoveries.
Negotiates and drafts licensing agreements, options, stock agreements that require an understanding of complex deal structures.

Excellent oral, written, communication, and analytical skills are required. Must be able to communicate proactively.
Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team.
Strong negotiation and organization skills.
