Move new technologies from the laboratory to the marketplace by: working with Clemson faculty to identify, protect, market and license inventions to companies that are qualified to commercialize the product or service in the market. Perform other duties as assigned.
30% - Essential - Faculty Invention Support: Build relationships with faculty to better understand their research capabilities and promote innovation. Provide pre-invention-disclosure consultation and work with faculty to identify and disclose new discoveries with commercial potential.
25% - Essential - Invention Evaluation and Recommendation: Evaluate invention disclosures for commercial potential and patentability by meeting with inventors to obtain an understanding of the unique aspects of their invention and the scientific context into which it fits, conducting market research to identify potential commercialization targets, provide recommendations on IP protection, and to clarify the funding source of the invention and any sponsor obligations.
25% - Essential - Marketing/Licensing: Develop and implement marketing and licensing strategies for new inventions. Cultivate and maintain network of industry contacts. Negotiate a broad variety of technology transfer agreements.
20% - Essential - Research Promotion/Education: Promote University research capabilities to outside entities. Educate stakeholders on technology transfer issues and the University Intellectual Property policy.
Bachelor's Degree - Degree in bio-medical engineering or life science related discipline. Work Exp 3+ years
