ROLE of the POSITION
The Director of the Nevada Center for Advanced Mobility will be responsible for building the team and structuring the organization to lead the advanced mobility economic development effort in Nevada. This includes defining strategic direction and management of day-to-day operations such as finances, communications, and administration. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of successful business management and development in software, telecommunications, or intelligent transportation related industries.
Identify and secure state assets that can be leveraged to generate activity and attract businesses to Nevada.
Lead the growth of the intelligent infrastructure, advanced mobility and autonomous vehicle industry at UNLV and in Nevada.
Connect industry with resources and opportunities in Nevada, providing an efficient point of contact for industry engagement at UNLV and in Nevada.
Lead analysis of Nevada's advanced mobility, intelligent infrastructure and autonomous vehicle technology competencies, and recommend improvements.
Promote and deliver successful demonstration, showcase and deployment projects by working with industry, academia, and government clients.
Serve as a subject matter expert and a resource to industry, academia, local governments, regional and state agencies, and others to facilitate engagement to attract and grow companies.
Assist partners with the selection, development, and evaluation of project teams and secondary resources.
Identify, promote and manage funding opportunities.
Manage reporting requirements established by funding agencies.
Coordinate with the Office and Economic Development and Office of Sponsored Programs for the execution and management of funding contracts.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of transportation industry standards, policy, regulation, and its development.
Ability to combine technology trends and market needs into specific initiatives and activities.
Ability to multi-task and have various roles in multiple projects at the same time.
This position requires a Master's degree in business or transportation related fields from a regionally accredited college or university and 5 years of related professional work experience. Preference will be given for individuals with extensive transportation and/or advanced mobility experience.
Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
